Are You Snoozing in Waking Dreams?
Snoozing can be a problem. A big problem. Waking dreams interfere with our growth and with our deepest possibilities. When we watch a film and doze off, we lose the story line in the movie. When we think were awake, were often just dozing in a waking dream. And when we snooze in waking dreams, we lose the real story line in our lives. When we lose track of our lifes deeply felt story line, we just settle for existing, something many people do because everyone else seems to be doing it too. The social consciousness is like a huge umbrella of limited thinking that sits over us. It blocks our view of the heavens. The only real story in our life is the story told from the Heart, from our innermost identity, the one that lies beyond our family and cultural conditioning. The Hearts Story The Hearts story of our life is inspired by inner magic and meaning, a magic rooted in awareness, mystery and wonder. Where we lose our connection to the Heart, were thrown through the entrance into the "not-such-a-good-life." Our wrong psychological address is a surface identity based on a self-image conditioned by family and culture. Our true address the Heart" is our very essence; it lies beyond conditioning. If you are living at your wrong address, youre identified with a conditioned self-image, an error that breeds emotional confusion and mistaken assumptions about reality. The very stuff of waking dream snoozes. Two critical questions emerge for you to ponder: 1) Can you connect to your Heart and awaken? And 2) Can you maintain an ongoing connection to your innermost identity? The answer to the both questions is yes, thank God. But only if we have the knowledge and tools to do so, and then only if were willing and able to use them, is it possible for us to awaken to and maintain a connection to our Heart. You cant find and create real magic in your life unless you discover and dissolve your conditioned limits and unless you discover, nourish and grow your
deepest possibilities. Were it not for our chance to find and use the knowledge and tools to awaken and stay awake, we would not be able to envision, craft and enjoy the Good Life. A Simple Staying Awake Practice Two ways to get out of the snooze zone and claim your life are: 1. Get a good Alarm Clock (Knowledge) 2. Turn your eyes and ears toward it (Tools) Plant the following question in your mind: "When will the next thought or feeling pull me into a waking dream?" By plant, I mean really make note of the fact that you can be and present or you can be carried off in one or another snooze. Recall that when you forget your keys or an appointment, there's often times a troublesome sense that something is not quite right. This "sense" comes from a very knowing inner signaling system, one that you can develop considerablywith dedication. When you give this signaling system this simple staying awake practice: "When will the next thought or feeling pull me into a waking dream?", it will begin to monitor you. Then, when you're getting pulled into a waking dream snooze, it will send you a message. Be on the lookout for these messages. In just a short while, youll have more waking time in your life. Once we resolve our serious snoozing problem, we can connect to our Heart and craft our life into an adventure that can be well-lived, loved and understood. And once we connect to our Heart, then we are no longer like thieves who, by the darkness of night, try to steal what they already own by the light of clear day.
